Concerv: Concerned Citizens for Edmonton's River Valley

EUB Hearings

ConCerv, Rossdale Community League, Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues and the Central Area Council of Community Leagues were funded intervenors at the hearings held by the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB). These hearings were originally scheduled to last two weeks in October, 2000. In the end the EUB sat for three weeks in October plus an additional three weeks in January, 2001. Final arguments were lodged by February 15, 2001 and the EUB handed down its decision in May, 2001.

Despite all the objections raised, the EUB chose to approve this application while leaving many of the key issues around appropriate land use, protection of architectural and historical resources, and First Nations issues unresolved. Those issues will have to be resolved in other venues before any work can start on this project and ConCerv will be using whatever opportunity is possible to oppose this application.
